Water softeners are home systems to reduce the hardness of tap water. This is the solution against limescale. A water softener reduces the concentration of calcium and magnesium ions in the water, which lowers the DH. Less limescale results in a lower energy bill and household appliances last longer, such as your coffee maker or washing machine. There are two types of anti-limescale systems; a salt water softener and an anti-limescale magnet, also known as a water softener alternative. We explain the differences for you.
